Tempests, ice showers, inundation - Disarray in weather patterns and snow-covered roads occur in southern Germany.
Once the storm had subsided, the pathways were covered in snow!
As per the latest police account, a massive hailstorm wreaked havoc in Göppingen's district, situated east of Stuttgart. Hail the size of cherries rained down from the clouds, according to the emergency agencies.
The extent of the destruction cannot be determined yet.
Moreover, the hailfall also left the roads completely coated in snow in Heidenheim. By the night however, the situation had smoothened out and the roads had been cleared of the snow.
Unfortunately, the arduous weather conditions extended into the weekend. Heavy downpours were expected in Baden-Württemberg, the Rhine-Main region, Palatinate, Eifel, and the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Storm damage in Nuremberg: roads were drenched
Similarly, the south of the country experienced the fury of the low-pressure system. In Dresden, numerous trees were uprooted during the tempest, collapsing onto cars and blocking streets. This was established by the local fire department on a Thursday afternoon.
Particularly in Löbtau, a considerable oak tree collided with four cars, yet thankfully no one sustained injuries.
Furthermore, in Bavaria, "Katinka" caused torrential rains in Bamberg district, Knetzgau, and Nuremberg. So much rainfall tainted entire streets, dunking automobiles underwater and severely disrupting traffic.
The eastern section of the city witnessed the most damage. Additionally, the fortunate motorists in this area were able to vacate their vehicles promptly.
The firefighters, who have laboriously fought the begluing water for hours, are still at the scene.
