Is the rapper's regret sincere? - Diddy expresses regret for physical assault.
The rapper has come forward with a statement directed at his fans. In an Instagram video, he shares his remorseful feelings, saying, "I felt horrid when I behaved that way in the past, and I still feel horrid about it now."
Cassie and Diddy had been in a relationship for nearly a decade. Aviolent altercation in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 was captured on camera. Diddy muses in the video, "I was heartbroken then - I was at my lowest point - but I can't make excuses. My behavior in that video is unforgivable."
He proceeds, "It's so tough to think about the darkest moments in your life, but sometimes you have to. I own up to my actions in that video."
The artist has sought help from professionals, "I went to therapy and rehab. I had to call upon God for forgiveness and understanding. I am so sorry. But I'm set on becoming a better person day after day. However, I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly remorseful."
In 2023, Cassie sued Diddy for abuse and sexual assault. It was alleged that Diddy physically abused, exploited, and coerced her into sex with male escorts during their time together. The case was settled quickly, within a day outside of court.
To this day, Diddy has maintained his innocence, posting on Instagram in December 2023, "Enough is enough. I didn't do any of the atrocious things I've been accused of."
Critics aren't easily convinced by his recent apology. One commenter noted, "He's only sorry because he was caught." Another wrote, "You're full of it." And a third added, "You're wasting your time. That apology no longer holds any credibility."
