Latest gossip about medical facilities in Italy - Did the Pope's physicians conduct surgery on Princess Kate?
The Italian magazine "Gente" now reports that in January, a group of Italian medical specialists carried out a complicated procedure on Kate, the Duchess of Sussex. This procedure was supposedly performed at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome. This hospital is well-known for treating high-profile individuals, including Pope Francis (87), who underwent intestinal surgery there in both 2021 and 2023.
In 2021, the Pope had an abdominal hernia operation, while in 2023, he had a hernia surgery on a scar from a previous intestinal operation. Each time, he expressed his gratitude to the doctors for their "care and attention" in handwritten letters.
But what about Kate? Did the team of Italian doctors fly to London to perform the procedure at the London Clinic? Given the Windsors' resources, they could easily have hired any surgeon they desired. After all, as the wife of Prince William (41), who is the heir to the throne, Kate holds a significant position in the royal family.
Is it possible that Professor Giovanni Scambia, the head of oncology at the Gemelli, performed the surgery? He is well-respected in the field. While the specifics of the procedure remain unknown, it's clear that it was quite significant. In a heartfelt video shared in March, Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis and expressed her appreciation for "the fantastic team of doctors who took excellent care of me."
So did Professor Scambia perform the surgery? Could the Duchess of Sussex have sought treatment at the same hospital as the Pope? Only time will tell.
