Six-year-old Arian has been missing for four weeks. - Detectives sift through a vast collection of evidence.
After conducting huge searches with up to 1200 people for two months, a team of five police officers is now working on the missing person case. The future of this investigation is uncertain. Most recently, the police searched the Oste River in Lower Saxony using sniffer dogs, sonar boats, and helicopters in mid-May.
Heiner van der Werp, a police spokesperson, said, "These new searches have led to the police receiving more tips once again. Our team has an abundance of tips that are being processed."
These tips are not only coming from all over Germany but also from Austria.
Three potential scenarios for Arian's disappearance
► Did Arian fall into the river? This theory is highly plausible. People with autism often have a special connection to water and are drawn to it. It's possible that Arian fell into the Oste, drowned, and was carried away.
► Was Arian abducted? The police deem this possibility unlikely, primarily due to the discovery of small footprints on the river several days after his disappearance, which supposedly belong to the boy. However, a spokesperson admitted, "Unfortunately, we can't make a definitive statement."
► Is Arian injured and being treated at an unknown location? Some reports suggest that Arian may have been injured in a hunting accident and is now receiving treatment in a resident's home. Yet, sniffer dogs were used in all searches, which would likely have picked up the scent of the boy's blood.
Although the police may find some hypotheses farfetched, nothing has been ruled out yet. A spokesperson said, "We're taking in all the clues, sorting through them, and prioritizing them."
Arian vanished on April 22
Arian, an autistic boy, disappeared from his home in Elm on April 22. He habitually sought refuge in the hallway and opened the door, running away. Surveillance camera footage captured Arian playing with a stick in the street that night and then running away.
