Freiburg meet Hoffenheim in a match. - Details on the final match for junior's DFB Cup.

SC Freiburg and TSG Hoffenheim are set to face off in the DFB Cup for juniors. The U19 teams of these two clubs will determine the cup winner on Friday.

Freiburg's youngsters emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline over Schalke 04 in the semi-final. Their goals came from David Amegnaglo (19), Yann Sturm (18), and Leon Catak (18).

Freiburg's full run in the cup:

  • First round: 6-0 win against Saarbrücken
  • Round of 16: 2-0 win against Energie Cottbus
  • Quarter-final: 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen
  • Semi-final: 3-1 win against Schalke

Hoffenheim's U19s, on the other hand, experienced a closer game in the semi-finals against Mainz 05, securing a 2-1 victory. The game's lone goal prior to the match-winner, scored by Max Moerstedt (18), put TSG ahead at the time.

Moerstedt has been on fire in the DFB Cup this season, netting seven goals in just four matches. No other player has scored more frequently in the current cup campaign. As a result of his strong performance, he now has his first-team debut, playing for 11 minutes in the 1-1 stalemate with RB Leipzig (May 3).

Hoffenheim's journey in the cup:

  • First round: 6-0 win against Dortmund
  • Round of 16: 5-1 win against Düsseldorf
  • Quarter-final: 5-0 win against HSV
  • Semi-final: 2-1 win against Mainz

The DFB Cup final for juniors takes place on Friday evening (6 pm) in Potsdam. Freiburg, an Oberliga side, meets Bundesliga club Hoffenheim. Can Freiburg extend their record of six DFB Cup titles?

In an interview with DFB.de, Freiburg coach Bernhard Weis (48) stated, "Some of the players might be aware that we're record winners. But knowing this through the media will only occur in the days and weeks leading up to the final. This upcoming duel, directed towards the end of their junior careers, holds its own incentive and significance."

Weis acknowledged, "Hoffenheim's squad is full of talented individuals. But we're not going to back down. A significant role will be played by the in-form team on the day of the final."
