Xavi and his associates witness a win for women. - Departing Leipzig coach's home record remains unbeaten.
In the front row, RB players Xavi Simons, Lois Openda, Mohamed Simakan, Castello Lukeba, and El Chadaille Bitshiabu watched on as Vanessa Fudalla (11), Sandra Starke (64), and Victoria Krug (79) scored the goals of the match.
Uzun's Last Home Victory
Four days after the RB women's team probably secured their relegation in Nuremberg (1-0) on Monday, coach Uzun was officially bade farewell on the pitch prior to the game by sporting director Viola Odebrecht (41).
As RB fans cheered for the departing Uzun with a banner ("Saban remains one of us") and chants, the axed coach's embrace with the 2003 world champion was noticeably colder. On March 30th, the decision was made - by mutual agreement - not to renew Uzun's contract after a two-year stint.
At the time, Uzun was just beginning to stabilize the newly-promoted team and slowly making progress out of the relegation zone. And in just an impressive manner!
Coach search still underway
After a forgettable first half of the season with only one win, his girls won all five home games. They are currently second in the second-round table, even outscoring cup winners Wolfsburg.
Although Odebrecht is on the lookout for a new coach, it's likely that Uzun will find another job following his two years at RB Leipzig. However, before that happens, the last game of the season will take place on May 20th at Freiburg.
