Gunnar Schupelius: Expressing His Fury - Demonstration against Tesla is foolish and harmful
The existence of numerous forests in Brandenburg means that deforestation in Grünheide isn't a major concern. Furthermore, Tesla consumes significantly less water when compared to other car factories in Germany.
Despite these claims, it's clear that the recent protests against Tesla aren't driven by environmental concerns. Instead, they stem from a group of left-wing extremists who seek to express their hostility towards democracy and market economies.
In the past, these extremists have targeted industries like lignite production. Now, they're attacking electric cars and labelling them as harmful to the environment. The common theme is that "capitalism" is responsible for climate change and inhibits climate protection.
Tesla serves as the perfect scapegoat for these simplistic, Marxist views. Company founder Elon Musk can be painted as a "turbo capitalist," and his anti-American sentiments are often stoked by the German left-wing community.
Musk noticed the pattern and commented on the "X" platform, "Something very unusual is happening, as Tesla is the only car company being targeted."
The protesters' coordinated actions were also odd; they wore matching blue caps and carried blue flags. They appeared like a militia, missing only the armbands and belts.
They leveraged a registered demonstration to scale the Tesla fence from a nearby train station, managing to breach it in some areas. They rushed past police officers and ducked under them.
At their pre-planned demonstration site, which featured a circus tent, they rehearsed the infiltration of the Tesla factory the previous day. They laughed and joked about it. Flags of Palestine and a flag resembling the RAF terrorist group were displayed, alongside others.
The police didn't find the situation amusing. They needed to protect both the fence and the surrounding roads and power lines. Many officers sustained injuries. Journalists, as they often do, described the altercations simply as "scuffles," as if they were children playing in the schoolyard.
As usual, peaceful protesters distanced themselves from the violence. However, their presence provided a cover for the chaos.
The resistance to Tesla is absurd for both its lack of solid arguments and its promotion of violence.
