Dave & Buster's is creating in-app arcade wagering for Skee-Ball and Hot Shots Hoops.

Dave & Buster's, a restaurant and arcade powerhouse, is gearing up to introduce real-money betting into their mobile app for their rewards members. This exciting development was announced this week.

Dave & Buster's is partnering with Lucra, a gaming software developer dedicated to creating a sense of friendly competition among communities. They're helping Dave & Buster's transform their "D&B Rewards" app to enable players to place bets while playing some of the arcade games.

Simon Murray, senior vice president of entertainment and attractions at Dave & Buster's, expressed his excitement, stating, "We're ecstatic to work with Lucra to bring this innovative new gaming platform to our customers. This new collaboration gives our loyalty members one-of-a-kind gaming experiences in real-time and reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences through state-of-the-art technology."

Dave & Buster's operates 222 locations across North America that provide food and drinks along with traditional and contemporary arcade games. They're listed on the Nasdaq (NASDAQ: PLAY), and their shares have seen a 50% increase since last year.

Betting Galore

Dave & Buster's decision to incorporate betting aligns with the growing popularity of gambling in the United States. Almost 40 states have legalized sports betting, and casinos are operational in most states, except for a few anomalies.

With a majority of Americans living in states where they can legally place bets on sports, it's no surprise that Dave & Buster's is considering expanding this option to arcade games as well.

Once betting becomes available, the D&B Rewards app will enable friends to compete on popular games where achieving high scores is crucial. The company plans to launch betting with a selection of games such as skee-ball, Hot Shots basketball, and Dance Dance Revolution.

The maximum wager for each bet will be around $10. Lucra representatives believe that the betting integration will boost engagement and retention for Dave & Buster's establishments.

Madding, the COO of Lucra, explained, "We're creating a unique digital experience for people inside these ecosystems. We're encouraging them to engage in a new way and spend more time and money."

This gambling aspect is a type of social betting and will not require Dave & Buster's to acquire gaming licenses from state gambling regulators. Lucra terms its services as "real-money contests and challenges" to differentiate the wagering activity.

Anyone aged 18 and above who uses the D&B Rewards app can participate in this social betting option while visiting a Dave & Buster's.

D&B's New AC Location

A recent addition to Dave & Buster's list of venues is their Atlantic City location, situated in one of the largest gaming markets in the US. Their 21,000-square-foot restaurant and arcade took over the space formerly occupied by Jay-Z's 40/40 nightclub.

The Atlantic City Dave & Buster's can be found at 2120 Atlantic Ave. and is just a block away from Caesars and the Boardwalk. The facility opened its doors on December 14th, 2023.
