Couple in Memmingen double murder trial receives life sentence due to high degree of culpability
Following a 28-day trial, the court found the pair guilty of killing Patrick O.'s father and stepmother in Neu-Ulm district's Altenstadt last year. The charges were proven to be valid.
The father was smothered, while the stepmother was stabbed to death. The couple's motivation centered on fulfilling their personal objectives with the financial gains from the crime. The boyfriend reportedly lent his vehicle for the crime and concocted a fake alibi.
The couple faced the possibility of losing the house given to the now 38-year-old son by the father, which served as another incentive. The prosecution also considered the chance of the couple seeking the inheritance as a motive. The son admitted to murdering his father and stepmother during the trial.
