Clever statement by Netzer. - Could Ullrich replace Delling in position?

Football legend Günter Netzer (79) and his wife Elvira attended the event. Netzer shared his admiration for Ullrich, stating, "Jan and I have known each other occasionally before, and I met him as a likeable person. After watching his documentary (available on Amazon Prime, among others), I was deeply moved. Since then, we've grown closer and are now true friends. He can always count on me!"

Ullrich appreciated Netzer's genuine nature, replying, "I took to you right away when we first met. You said, 'If you need me, I'm there for you,' and you kept your promise. I'm grateful for our friendship."

Netzer's self-confident smile brought laughter to the room. He jokingly remarked, "With these sweet compliments, we can now share the spotlight!"

A nod to Netzer's ARD partnership with Gerhard Delling (65) from 1998 to 2010. Together, they would flirt and compliment each other while analyzing the German national team. For instance, Delling would say, "You've seen the players from the Faroe Islands. Have you noticed the self-assured winning smile they share?" To which Netzer would reply, "No, I actually noticed that they look like you have." This entertaining duo received the Adolf Grimme Prize in 2000.

A partnership like Netzer/Ullrich for future television shows is unlikely. Nonetheless, their mutual respect for one another's achievements in their respective sports remains strong.

Netzer, speaking of Ullrich's incredible accomplishments as the only German to have won the Tour de France in 1997, expressed, "I'm just a recreational athlete. The hardships he had to endure before, only to persevere despite it all - that's truly remarkable."

Ullrich admired the great career Netzer had in football, saying, "You've always been true to yourself."
