Trial commencement for Marie Sophie's (14) fatal incident. - Could sexual violence in pornography inspire real-life killings?

In the courtroom on the first day of the trial, René G., a slim young man with red hair and a clean-shaven face, is brought in under arrest. The room is packed with people.

Prosecutor Niels Hauth then reads out the charges: According to their accusations, on September 27, 2023, G. assaulted Marie near a wooded area in Bad Emstal, Hesse. The prosecution alleges that he strangled Marie to the point of unconsciousness and then fondled her breasts and bottom in order to sexually excite himself, inspired by rape pornography.

A police investigator providing insight into G.'s phone usage: "It became apparent that at the end of August/beginning of September, he increasingly consumed pornographic material depicting the rape of young girls." Additionally, "violence and forests" were prominent themes in the material, and some of the girls were also drugged. The officer continued: "It seemed that he was also interested in murders."

Among other things, G. is said to have looked up online how to drown or strangle someone and whether or not fingerprints would be left behind.

The police later found the accused René G.'s bra and panties from the dead schoolgirl

René G. spoke to the jury about his past experiences. He claimed that he had been kidnapped by a man in his 50s who had held him captive in his apartment for three days and sexually assaulted him. G. had wanted to kill this man. Marie was aware of this.

Defense allegations in court

G. claims he used the videos he allegedly filmed of Marie after committing the crime as a means to blackmail her. He wanted to prevent her from reporting the incident if she regained consciousness.

Marie Sophie's father, Damian S. (40, right), appeared as joint plaintiff

The police believe that René G. held an unhealthy interest in Marie, bordering on obsession. Despite Marie having turned him down, the two remained friends and would occasionally meet up to smoke marijuana. Marie's family had even forbidden her from having any contact with him.

Perilous: After the crime, G. is said to have expressed a willingness to assist in locating Marie. At that point, the girl was long deceased, having been strangled and buried under tree trunks.

The trial continues on.

Marie Sophie's sister Chantale (18) with her father Damian (40), Chantale is already a mother of two herself
