Suffered another injury? - Could Gnabry cease to represent Bayern?
In the painful elimination of FC Bayern Munich from the Bundesliga's semi-finals, one player emerged as the main source of sorrow: the standout winger Serge Gnabry (27).
No doubt, Gnabry won't see any playing time for Bayern until the upcoming Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg on May 17, or the final encounter with Hoffenheim on May 18.
However, the fate of Gnabry's future with Bayern hangs in the balance. The renowned German club not only has to face next-game opponents Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim but also looks for a new coach to take over from Thomas Tuchel (50) for the upcoming football season.
Internal assessments for several months have painted Gnabry as a potential target for sale during the summer transfer window. Analysts argue that his recently-seen inconsistent performances and persistence in injuries aren't justified by his €20 million yearly salary as a 2021 Champions League winner. Earlier this year, he suffered a four-week absence due to an undisclosed injury, later injuring his left hamstring in the quarter-final face-off against Arsenal. During the year-end tackle, Gnabry also experienced a broken forearm, forcing him to sit out seven games.
The forthcoming coach's decisions will have a significant impact on Gnabry's possible departure.
