Spain's News Update - Could Flick welcome four Bundesliga players to Barcelona?
As per news outlets, Hansi Flick (59) is set to be unveiled as the new Barcelona manager on Monday, taking over from Xavi (44) whose departure was publicly confirmed on Friday. Although specifics of Flick's contract haven't been finalized yet, it is said that he has already inspected his new team.
The incoming Barça coach is rumored to depend on goal-scorer and his previous protege from FC Bayern - Robert Lewandowski (35), potentially bringing an end to the ongoing uncertainty around the Polish striker. However, the future may not be bright for some other Catalonian players.
Flick's list of players to leave Barcelona:
Flick doesn't seem to be considering Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, whose contracts are set to end in the summer with an option for an extra year. Additionally, Ferran Torres, Oriol Romeu, Inigo Martinez, Inaki Pena, and Vitor Roque are also not in his plans. Reports suggest Joao Félix of Atletico Madrid may not have a future at the club.
Players Flick is targeting for Barcelona:
Among the players Flick is apparently interested in recruiting are two from the Bundesliga - Joshua Kimmich and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.
Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly " leaning towards leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer" and has a clause that allows him to depart for a price tag of 40 million euros. The right winger must activate this clause before the European Championship begins.
Dani Olmo and David Raum, who play for RB Leipzig, are also mentioned in Flick's transfer goals. Dani Olmo was part of Barcelona's youth system before moving to Leipzig and is bound to the German club until 2027. There's an exit clause in his contract that remains valid until July. The cost for Olmo is estimated at around 60 million euros. FC Bayern is also said to be eyeing Olmo.
Raum has a contract till 2027 as well, and Flick is said to think he would be a great addition to the Barcelona squad. Raum's transfer cost is reportedly 30 million euros. However, whether Barcelona can afford these four signings is highly questionable due to their current financial situation.
