A knife assault transpired in Gelenau. - Convoy of radical conservative "Free Saxons" group.
Nearly 400 people gathered in protest against the government's asylum policy. The police report no incidents during the rally. Prior to the event, a group of protesters arrived from Scharfenstein, about 10 kilometers away, by car. Demonstrators were waving 30 "Free Saxony" flags and listened to speeches from local leaders like District Chairman Stefan Hartung and Councilor David Schröer, who had organized the event on social media.
Recently, a Senegalese man (36) assaulted four people with a knife in a small community of 3,000 in the Ore Mountains. The incident happened on Saturday. The man was hospitalized after the attack.
The Attacker Overpowered Near an Asylum Home
Witness accounts led the police to quickly capture the offender.
At 9:30 p.m., emergency responders apprehended the intoxicated Senegalese man. Since he was mentally unstable, he was sent to a psychiatric ward for treatment.
The police are also looking into the possibility that the Senegalese man harassed several other women before the knife attack in Gelenau.
