Trial following a trip to the salon. - Compensation of 2500 euros for having Struwwelpeter hair
In the district court of Koblenz, they've dubbed this civil case as the "case of the month of April." The scenario: a woman with medium-length hair opted for an anti-permanent wave treatment due to its recent popularity among celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston. Unfortunately, the hairdresser allegedly used an improper product for chemical hair straightening.
This unfortunate occurrence resulted in unkempt, broken, and matted hair that forced the customer to have more than ten centimeters cut off immediately. The woman barely left her house for almost a year, mainly wearing hats or caps to hide her disfigured hair.
For her suffering and the high hair care costs, she demanded a total of 10,000 euros in damages and compensation.
A considerable psychological impairment
The court acknowledged "a considerable psychological impairment" and deemed the loss of hair as a form of bodily injury. However, the plaintiff will only receive 2,500 euros in compensation for her pain and suffering.
The hairdresser still has the opportunity to appeal this decision, as the ruling is not yet legally binding. The Struwwelpeter customer's hair is now back to shoulder-length.
