Unfavorable weather predictions. - Cologne, a European Championship host city cancels "Fan Camp."
The "Fan Camp" set up in Cologne's Youth Park for the European Championship matches has been called off due to poor weather conditions and high water levels in the Rhine.
Scheduled to run from June 14th to July 2nd, the "Fan Camp" offered a place for up to 200-400 fans to stay overnight during the four matches held in Cologne (three group games and one round of 16).
The city of Cologne's EM office released a statement, stating "The current weather conditions on site and the forecasts for the coming days and weeks do not allow for a proper arrangement of logistics on site and a safe preparation and implementation of the Fan Camp. All reservations for the 'Fan Camp' have been canceled, and the corresponding funds will be promptly refunded."

Organizer Dirk Stoeveken shared his thoughts on the cancellation, "The campground is experiencing almost complete flooding, and the forecast advises that the water levels in the Rhine will only rise further. This is creating a series of issues with our preparations and has made it difficult to predict both setup timelines and potential cost fluctuations."
Gregor Timmer, the European Championship representative for the city of Cologne, expressed his disappointment, "It's sad that we had to make this decision. There was a lot of anticipation for this event, especially from Scottish and English fans. However, the safety of all participants is our highest priority, and we've taken that into consideration. Additionally, we've saved the city of Cologne from potentially higher financial risks."
