Film theater or movie house - Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton star in director Edward Berger's latest movie.

Edward Berger, a prestigious German Oscar winner, is currently assembling a stellar cast for his upcoming directorial endeavor. The project, titled "The Ballad of a Small Player," has already attracted well-known names like Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton.

The news came directly from Netflix, which announced that Swinton would star in the film adaptation of Lawrence Osborne's novel. Filming is set to commence this summer in Asia.

Rowan Joffe, a British screenwriter, is responsible for the script. Osborne, a seasoned British travel reporter and author, based the novel on his extensive experience with Asian culture, having lived there for numerous years.

The story revolves around a British gambler with a turbulent past who poses as Lord Doyle in the gaming city of Macau. This gambler tests his fortune as a card player, leading to his accumulation of debts. A chance meeting with a woman transforms his life.

Recently, Swinton was spotted in "The Killer" alongside Michael Fassbender. Her acting credits range from "Orlando," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Snowpiercer," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and "Asteroid City."

Edward Berger's literary adaption "Nothing New in the West" claimed four accolades at the Oscars in 2023, including the prestigious award for Best International Film. Berger's last undertaking was the adaptation of "Conclave," a thriller about the unexpected death of a pope and the ensuing election of his successor, featuring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini. The movie is slated for release in cinemas this November.
