Codere and Hard Rock International strengthen leadership positions
Leadership in the gaming industry is changing on a regular basis, and two other companies are making some changes as well.Codere Group and Hard Rock International (HRI) both have new management guiding them into the next phase of their growth.
Codere, a multinational company in the gaming industry, has appointed Gonzaga Higuero as group CEO, putting him at the helm of the reorganized company. He has a long track record of leading companies across multiple industries, but this is a first for him in gaming.
HRI has named Vincent Zahn as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company and its Seminole Gaming division. Unlike Iguero, he is in the gaming industry and worked at Wynn Resorts for four years.
Codere continues to rebuild
Prior to joining Codere in 2018, Higuero had been CEO of Health Transportation Group, Europe’s second-largest provider of medical transportation services. He is responsible for leading the company's refinancing process and acquisition by new shareholders in 2021, as well as the group's planned growth over the past two years.
He also served as an executive at multinational security company Prosegur, where he held various management positions for 15 years. During this time, he gained experience in multiple global markets including Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
The company said Higuero joining the Codere team will bring "valuable knowledge and experience to further strengthen the company's leadership position in all markets and contribute to the group's growth through new business development and online projects".
In March this year, the group announced the resignation of two chief executives, Alberto González del Solar and Alejandro Rodino. The company then began a search for a new leader with restructuring and sales experience to take over the management of the company starting this summer. The new financial restructuring currently underway at Codere involves retaining 100 million euros ($110.15 million) of liquidity and deferring debt maturities.
HRI focuses on growth
Zahn’s addition to HRI and Seminole Gaming demonstrates the organization’s commitment to attracting world-class talent to support its growth and financial management. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position.
During his two-decade career in finance, Zahn has held a variety of leadership roles at large corporations. Of particular interest are his experiences in Wall Street finance.
Zahn previously served as an equity analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he focused on the gaming and hospitality industries, according to a release from HRI. He also served as Vice President and Treasurer of Pinnacle Entertainment for seven years.
Jim Allen, chairman of HRI and CEO of Seminole Gaming, sees great potential in Zahn’s appointment. Reporting directly to Zahn, Allen will give Zahn significant responsibility for guiding HRI’s global growth strategy in the coming years.
