You've recently arrived. - Coach Nagelsmann and his partner Lena in the DFB hotel.
15:41 p.m. on a Sunday in Blankenhain, Thuringia
Julian Nagelsmann's home European Championship journey finally begins. In the DFB van, he's joined by his children from his first marriage (9 and 3 years old) and ex-wife Verena Nagelsmann. They've separated in 2022 after 15 years together.
With the curtains up and windows tinted, they head to their temporary residence for the next week.
Why is Nagelsmann's family there?
During the first few days in Blankenhain, team bonding is just as important as training. The players' families and girlfriends are in attendance until Wednesday. There's also a joint party scheduled with the players, staff, and families. Training shifts to football talent in Herzogenaurach on Friday.
Minutes before their arrival, Rudi Völler (64) and co-trainer Sandro Wagner (36) join the team base. Players are expected in the afternoon.
Who's missing from the 27-member squad?
Ten players are missing from the roster.
Not present due to illness: Manuel Neuer (38), as confirmed by the DFB. It's unclear when the long-term captain will join the training camp.
Missing too: Florian Wirtz (21), Jonathan Tah (28), and Robert Andrich (29) from Bayer Leverkusen. They're celebrating their cup and championship triumph on Sunday and are expected to travel to Thuringia later.
The same goes for Ilkay Gündogan (33) and Marc-André ter Stegen (32) from Barcelona. They'll play their last LaLiga game against Sevilla on Sunday evening.
Lastly, Toni Kroos (34) and Toni Rüdiger (31) from Real Madrid, as well as Niclas Füllkrug (31) and Nico Schlotterbeck (24) from Borussia Dortmund will be absent. They'll face each other at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, so they won't be able to make it to the training camp in Thuringia.
