Demotion to a lower league - Coach Butscher advises not discussing actions but rather taking them.
VFL Bochum's coach, Heiko Butscher, is urging his players to show passion and determination ahead of their relegation second-leg match against Fortuna Düsseldorf. "We need to focus on our mindset," said the coach of the Bundesliga club, which is on the brink of being relegated. "It's a crucial moment, and it's all about what the team can bring to the table," he added before their game at Düsseldorf on Monday evening (8:30pm/Sky and Sat.1).
Bochum's defeat at home by a 3-0 margin in the first leg has made their chances of staying in the Bundesliga almost nil.
The coach realizes the gravity of the situation, admitting, "I know it's going to be difficult, but we have to keep fighting." However, he expects a strong performance from his team. He stated, "We need aggression, intensity, and passion from our players until the very end. Let's show the character we're known for."
Injury reports show that Manuel Riemann, the regular goalkeeper, will still be unavailable due to disciplinary reasons. Besides, the defense will miss their most aggressive player, Bernardo, who is sitting out a yellow card suspension.
However, the coach has claimed that his entire squad is fit and ready for action. They have just finished training with "enthusiasm and vigor and have regained a sense of belief." Butcher added, "The refrain of making a great comeback is not new to sports. Now, we have to exhibit it on the field, not just discuss it."
The coach expects his team to stand up to the challenge and escape the relegation.
