Co-Founder of Rush Street Gaming, Greg Carlin, Lists His Chicago Home for $7.3 Million
The co-founder of Rush Street Gaming, an influential Chicago-based gaming company, is selling his Lincoln Park home for more than $7.3 million.
Greg Carlin created Rush in 2012 alongside billionaire Neil Bluhm, who amassed his wealth through JMB Realty, a private real estate investment company, and Walton Street Capital, a private equity firm. Together, they've constructed and opened five Rivers-branded commercial casinos across various states, including Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, and Illinois. Rush further generates income through its digital iGaming and sports betting unit, BetRivers.
Under Carlin's leadership, the company made him immensely wealthy as well. Back in 2007, the Carlins purchased their Lincoln Park residence at 2325 N. Cleveland Avenue for $5.7 million. With a hefty price tag of $7.35 million, they're aiming to earn a significant profit.
According to Crain's Chicago Business, if this property sells at or close to its asking price, it would be the most expensive home sale in Lincoln Park in almost a year.
The Lincoln Park property was once owned by Penny Pritzker and her husband, Bryan Traubert. Pritzker's siblings include the current Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker, and she was also a part of the billionaire family that oversees the Hyatt Hotels. Additionally, she served as the 38th US Commerce Secretary from June 2013 to June 2017 during President Barack Obama's term.
This spectacular 7,900-square-foot home features five bedrooms, 5.5 baths, and a 50 x 200-foot lot meticulously landscaped with a basketball court and artificial turf. The main bedroom sports a luxurious spa-like bathroom and two tailor-made walk-in closets.
Its 10,000-square-foot plot is located near Lincoln Park, a massive 1,208-acre park where you'll find the city's zoo, parklands, nature reserves, beach, and harbors. Fans of Baseball will enjoy its proximity to Wrigley Field, the stadium of MLB's Chicago Cubs, which is just 1.9 miles away. The Carlin residence also comes with a hefty tax bill of over $94K per year.
Carlin stepped down as CEO of Rush Street Gaming in 2022, and since then, he's launched G2 Gaming. The company is focusing on New Hampshire's gaming market, which has recently expanded to include historical racing machines. Phrased as slot-like HHR, these machines have rendered the state's gaming market more appealing and potentially more lucrative for operators like G2 Gaming.
G2 Gaming has claimed rights to two gaming licenses in New Hampshire, securing the Ocean Gaming Casino at Hampton Beach and building a second casino in Rochester's Lilac Mall. Carlin expressed enthusiasm about diving into New Hampshire's community and working with local and state officials to develop charitable gaming operations estimated to raise millions of dollars yearly for nonprofit organizations.
Carlin divulged in 2023 that due to the inclusion of pari-mutuel-based electronic gaming terminals in New Hampshire's charitable gaming market, it offers vast growth potential. "We're excited to become involved with the Rochester community and work alongside state and local leaders in building charitable gaming operations that we believe will raise millions annually for New Hampshire nonprofit groups," he remarked last year.
