Radical beliefs or actions - Clues sought regarding the whereabouts of ex-RAF terrorists Garweg and Staub.

In the three months since the apprehension of ex-RAF militant Daniela Klette, investigators have caught wind of countless clues regarding her former partners, Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub. Authorities with the Lower Saxony Criminal Police Department (LKA) were on the hunt for Garweg in early March, eventually seizing a construction trailer in Berlin-Friedrichshain where he resided under the alias Martin. The LKA shared with the German Press Agency in Hanover that they had received a staggering 431 tips about Garweg himself and 327 tips on Staub. Prior to her capture on February 26th, Klette had been living in an apartment in Berlin under a counterfeit identity.

New photographs surfaced of Garweg and his canines on March 2nd. Following the release of these photos, 94 fresh tips made their way to LKA. Along with Klette's apartment and the construction trailer site, authorities confiscated numerous pieces of evidence. Investigators tell us their analysis on these captured items is still ongoing.

Garweg, Klette, and Staub are part of the so-called third wave of the radical left-wing terrorist organization, the Red Army Faction (RAF). In 1998, the RAF declared its disbandment, having killed over 30 people. Klette is in pre-trial detention at a women's prison in Vechta, Lower Saxony. The Verden public prosecutor's office is investigating Klette for suspected robbery. It also remains undecided whether her use of a firearm should be considered attempted murder, according to a spokesperson for the authorities.

Friedo de Vries, President of the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office, spoke to dpa, assuring, "I am still confident that we will arrest the two wanted men, Garweg and Staub." De Vries emphasized that there were still leads that required rigorous follow-up. "We are unrelenting in our pursuit and we've learned a lot more about the wanted individuals than we ever did during the lengthy manhunt." De Vries refrained from using the phrase "hot lead" but added, "We're pursuing every conceivable lead with utmost focus and determination. And now we know more about them than we ever did during the years of the manhunt."

The Verden Regional Court is the body that will handle any potential charges against Klette, confirmed the public prosecutor's office and the Regionale Gericht in response to an inquiry from dpa. Although the investigation against Klette is not yet over, it is believed charges will be filed.

"Given the possibility of an indictment at the Verden Regional Court, the Regional Court is conducting an analysis of a potential threat situation," said a court spokesperson. They couldn't yet specify which courtroom a potential trial might be held in.
