Due to the ex-Fürther - Club missing out on craftsmen incentive reward
FC Utrecht will earn a five-digit Euro bonus if they qualify for the Europa League this season, thanks to the loan of Tim Handwerker (25). Handwerker joined the club in the second half of 2021/22 and played for just 19 minutes before tearing his cruciate ligament in training.
Utrecht reached the Dutch playoffs for the Conference League spot, leading 1-0 against Go Ahead Eagles until the 90.+1 minute with a goal from Nick Viergever (34). However, Viergever, who played 24 games for Nuremberg in the 2021/22 Bundesliga, also scored an own goal.
In extra time, Utrecht conceded the 1-2, securing Europa League qualification for Handwerker's loan club and dealing a blow to Nuremberg. Surprisingly, the bonus would have been awarded to the club regardless of Handwerker's limited playing time.
Season Ticket Prices Increase by 10%
Unfortunately, loyal fans of the club will have to pay more for their stadium visits next season. Right now, 19,000 season ticket holders can renew their subscriptions, but they'll face a 10% price hike compared to last year.
For instance, a standing room season ticket in the North Curve will cost 209 euros, up from 190 euros before. Prices for seats in the North and South Curves, Grandstand, and Main Tribe have also increased by about 10%.
Despite this, the FCN did not increase prices last season. The justification for this year's increase is that energy, service, and personnel costs have skyrocketed in recent years, leaving the club with no option but to pass along these increased expenses to their fans.
