Cirque du Soleil performer injured leg during Beatles show in Las Vegas
Cirque du Soleil's weekend show at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas has been temporarily halted after a trampoline performer was injured.
The unnamed actor suffered an injury to his left leg and is recovering, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The accident may have affected his knees and ankles.
Friday night's show was paused for about half an hour as members of the production crew helped him off the stage.
The accident occurred while the song "Revolution" was being played during the Beatles' "LOVE" performance. Cirque du Soleil confirmed the incident in a statement.
It's unclear whether the actor will need surgery. According to a statement from Cirque du Soleil, trainers and doctors will monitor the performer to ensure proper recovery and determine when he can resume his role on stage.
During the show where the accident occurred, performers used four trampolines and a replica Volkswagen bus while the song "Revolution" played.
Audience’s Pain
An unrelated incident occurred the same day at 7 p.m. The Review-Journal reported, based on audience reports, that someone in the audience may have suffered a seizure during the show.
In a previous incident on June 29, performer Kyle Mitrione was seriously injured while performing "O" at Cirque du Soleil in Bellagio. After the injury, he underwent spinal surgery, the Review-Journal reported. Since then, he has been receiving physical therapy in Denver.
'love story
In 2006, the show "The Beatles LOVE" was launched. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison attended the premiere with their families, as did Beatles producer George Martin.
Last month, Paul McCartney came to the Phantom Theater just hours before the show to say hello to the cast. The show's aerialist Sasha Harrington performed for him and took photos with the music legend.
When Cirque President Eric Grilly announced the renewal of the Beatles-themed show last year, he said: “The Beatles LOVE is one of the most popular and popular shows on the Las Vegas Strip. One of the most successful production shows.”
The Beatles-themed shows are expected to run until at least March 20, 2024.
The Mirage won't be renamed the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas until late 2027 at the earliest, but according to Vital Vegas it could be 2028. In December, Hard Rock received approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) to purchase the Mirage resort from MGM Resorts International.
