CEO Steps Down in Gaming Industry

Stefan Olsson, CEO of the Swedish gambling company Global Gaming, is stepping down from his role for personal reasons, but will remain with the company. His successor has been chosen.

After more than a decade leading Global Gaming, Stefan Olsson is handing over the reins to take charge of the "GG Innovation Team." This refers to the company's product development, based in Malta, and is internationally recognized for its brands Ninja Casino and Kotikasino.

"It was an incredible journey, both for me personally and for Global Gaming over all these years," Olsson said, despite visibly sad about leaving, he couldn't find personal fulfillment in his current position as CEO.

"I'm essentially a developer, problem solver, and entrepreneur, but I can't be that as much now that Global Gaming has already achieved such high levels of success," Olsson explains his personal identity. In his new role, he sees himself redefined and eager:

"I'm really looking forward to this new position, while others can focus on their skills in the organization - on our ambitious growth rates in multiple countries and a multitude of new investors," the future head of Global Gaming's creative department expresses his excitement.

Global Gaming's press release confirms that, starting May 1st, Joacim Möller, currently COO of the company, will assume both the acting president and the CEO roles - at least until a fresh face is found. The job search process has already begun.

The selection of Joacim Möller for both roles could be seen as daring - having only been in the COO role for 18 months, he's still relatively new. The incoming CEO seems hopeful and anxious about his new duty:

"I'm proud, but also nervous and humble about my new responsibilities. As part of this key organizational change, I plan to work harder to create value for our investors."

Peter Eidensjö, Chairman of the Board at Global Gaming, backs the decision wholeheartedly, seeing it as a logical step towards creating a sustainable organization: "We all want to make the most of our company's phenomenal growth, and we're doing that by bringing out our best."

Global Gaming itself boasts a 372% increase in revenue during the 2017 fiscal year. Whether Joacim Möller can handle the pressure of such rapid expansion is yet to be seen - after all, money is spent much more easily than it's made - but with such a large safety net, the hurdles of the transition should be easily surmountable.
