Celine Dion loses muscle control, comeback fails: report
Celine Dion's hopes of returning to Las Vegas were briefly boosted by her first public appearance at Katy Perry's farewell "Play" residency at Resorts World, but It was finally “busted” by a new report from France.
The superstar's sister told French magazine 7 Jours that Dion, 55, can no longer control his muscles. Dionne battles stiff-person syndrome, a progressive and incurable neurological disease that causes the body to attack its own nerve cells.
She works so hard, but she can’t control her muscles,” Claudette Dion, 74, told the magazine. “What breaks my heart is that she’s always disciplined . She always works hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do well, you’re going to do it right. ’”
A year ago this month, Dionne's condition, which affects less than one in a million people, caused her to cancel her world tour and announce her diagnosis to the world.
Stiff person syndrome is characterized by stiff muscles that cause painful, uncontrollable spasms when triggered by noise and emotional stress. Some people can turn into "human figures" in his hands, unable to walk or speak.
"Unfortunately, the cramps have affected every aspect of my daily life, leaving me with difficulty walking at times and unable to use my vocal cords to sing like I used to," the record-breaking Caesars Palace frontman said. In a video interview, she tearfully announced her diagnosis.
People with stiff-person syndrome are usually women between the ages of 30 and 50.
Your hope will continue
Dion touched the hearts of millions of fans on Nov. 4 when she attended the final performance of Katy Perry's "Play" residency at Resorts World. Because just two years ago, Dion was supposed to open Resorts World as part of her residency.
When they read reports of the multi-platinum singer dancing during Perry's performance, they gave her hope that she was on the road to recovery.
However, her condition has worsened in recent weeks.
Really, our dream and theirs is to get back on stage," Claudette said in the same interview. "How much? I don’t know…the vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is a muscle. "
Claudette previously revealed that despite working with "the best researchers in the field", Celine's health had barely improved. Her middle sister Linda, 64, moved into Dion's Las Vegas mansion and worked as a caretaker.
“We can’t find a drug that works,” Claudette told the Journal de Montreal in August, “but it’s important to have hope.”
