In game two of the Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga playoffs, the Niners Chemnitz lost to Rasta Vechta with a score of 87:96. This means that at least four games will be played before the semi-finalists are determined in this series.
The score is now level at one win each after Chemnitz's defeat in their important playoff home game. During the second game on Whit Sunday evening, Rasta player Joel Aminu (27) scored a career-best 30 points. Vechta's three-pointers proved to be the downfall of the Niners, with the visitors making 16 successful shots from beyond the arc at a strong rate of 53%.
Vechta's Head Coach Ty Harrelson (43) was elated after the victory, stating: "I'm thrilled to come to Chemnitz and secure a win from the two games here. This was our primary objective and is very crucial for this series." He continued, "Our team performed admirably. We're looking forward to returning to Vechta now and hopefully getting some injured players fit again for Tuesday."
Chemnitz's Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore acknowledged the issue: "Our defense was only effective for one quarter today. Vechta scored exceptionally well, especially when we experienced a short run. To improve, we need to explore other line-ups, which are generally strong in defense but couldn't have an impact today. In the previous three or four matches, we appeared significantly stronger."
One fact is unquestionable: Pastore's team must now snatch at least one game to maintain its chances of moving on.
