Casino Live: Mr Green Receives IGA Award
The International Gaming Awards (IGA) crowned Mr Green as the Live Casino of the Year this year. This is the first time the Stockholm-based company won this highly acclaimed title. Additionally, Mr Green has been a success story at the IGA Awards in 2014 and 2015, when it was named the best online casino operator.
The IGA Award acknowledges the visually appealing and overall design of the live casino, along with its selection of games and the quality of customer service. Mr Green's live games area impressed in all categories, making it stand out from the competition. The company has been known to the German audience due to its television advertising. However, with the expiration of the Schleswig-Holstein gambling license at the end of 2018, these commercials will no longer air.
Jesper Kärrbrink, CEO of Mr Green, said, "We aimed to launch a live casino like no other. To achieve this, we developed a set of innovative products and services that employ state-of-the-art technology. The response from our customers has been fantastic, and we are extremely proud to receive this award. It confirms that we are indeed providing an extraordinary gaming experience in this area."
Alongside industry leader Evolution Gaming, Mr Green works with NetEnt and Authentic Gaming in its live casino. Evolution's branded gaming tables reflect Mr Green's branding and are available exclusively to its customers. Since 2018, NetEnt's Live Beyond Live label has leveraged 3D animations to embed the live betting action. Authentic Gaming allows players to place their bets directly at the gaming tables of some of the most famous land-based casinos around the world through a live feed. Examples include Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Mr Green's competitor Evolution Gaming owns a roulette table at Dragonara Casino, where players of Mr Green Live Casino can also place virtual bets.
Mr Green's win during a transitional period
The online casino operator received this award during a turbulent period. Following the acquisition by competitor William Hill, Mr Green (MRG) announced in January that it would no longer appear as an independent company on the Stockholm Nasdaq stock exchange after February 15, 2019. William Hill Casino, which owns over 90% of Mr Green's shares since its takeover bid in November 2018, published the press release on winning the IGA Award. Even though the company will cease to exist as an independent entity, it's expected to continue operating under the branding of the green gentleman. This means customers can still try their luck in over 1,000 games, including 750 mobile versions.
William Hill, the traditional London bookmaker founded in 1934, is counting on the acquisition to bolster its casino division in the long run. Mr Green will maintain its over 1,000 games for customers in their familiar environment, with many of these becoming mobile versions as well.
The International Gaming Awards
The IGA Awards have been presented for the 12th time this year, with Clever Duck Media—a British company that operates the esteemed industry portal The iGaming Post—overseeing the award ceremony. The jury comprises industry professionals who select a winner in more than 25 categories annually. The awards ceremony traditionally takes place in London early February and this year took place at the esteemed Savoy Hotel.
2019 winners in other notable categories
Apart from Mr Green, other industry heavyweights received awards as well. Casumo won the title for best online casino operator, while LeoVegas was acknowledged for the best mobile casino. Play'n GO obtained the distinction for Best Slot Machine Manufacturer, and the Innovation Award went to Yggdrasil—the game developer.
Additional industry awards
Apart from the IGA Awards, there are another two prestigious awards in the iGaming industry that are presented yearly: the EGR Global Awards, organized by the trade magazine and industry service eGaming Review, and the Global Gaming Awards, overseen by Gambling Insider's industry portal.
