Casino crime summary: Beauty salon suspected of gambling establishment

Last week, a raid on a beauty salon in Ponoma, Calif., led to dozens of arrests in gambling raids.

The casino, located in a local shopping mall, was one of two locations raided by authorities for alleged illegal gambling.

A woman named Juliana, who works at a nearby restaurant, told Los Angeles television station KNBC that a person in the salon tried to get into the overhead area to hide from police during the search.

Yathana Martinez told KNBC the raid followed suspicious activity at the salon.

You would never expect this. It used to be a real pick-up place," Martinez added. "It's very concerning to see that they're still using that as a cover for suspicious activity. "

Martinez remembers people texting outside the store and then the same person opened the door for them.

About a dozen police officers took part in the raid. Details of the raid and possible arrests are unclear.
