35 flat tires near casino
A man has been arrested after allegedly placing a device in or near the parking lot of Table Mountain Casino in California that punctured the tires of more than 35 cars.
Matthew Ebner, 53, of Dos Palos, Calif., was arrested last week on vandalism charges in connection with the incidents, California television station KSEE reported.
In three months, about 35 vehicles suffered tire damage after driving in the casino parking lot or on nearby roads. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said they were both run over by homemade metal spikes that became lodged in their tires.
The damage to the vehicle amounted to thousands of dollars, according to authorities.
Ebner was identified as a possible suspect after police found a truck that could be traced to Ebner. Police subsequently searched Ebner's apartment, where they found metal nails last Wednesday.
It was later discovered that Abner was involved in a dispute with the casino, according to the Sheriff's Office. Police did not release details of the disagreement.
Abner is being held at the Fresno County Jail. He has since been released and the case has been turned over to the local prosecutor's office, according to online jail records.
