Casino crime investigation: Drunk casino visitor then drove into building

Two women got into a fight early Sunday at a casino in Oregon. They then left the casino and their pickup truck crashed into a nearby building.

The two had been drinking at the Chinook Winds Casino Resort. At one point they got into an argument, but they left the casino in the same truck.

About a mile from the event site, the truck pulls into the Lock and Key Adventurers Association on Highway 101 in Lincoln, Oregon. The impact shattered the store's front window and damaged the exterior wall, police said.

A short time later, police discovered a van with front-end damage. Through a records check, police identified 27-year-old Shailin Moses as the owner of the vehicle.

Police went to her Lincoln home. She and a passenger in the truck, 24-year-old Mary Sanders, said they had been drinking at the casino for several hours but still appeared intoxicated, police said. Moses was reportedly driving the truck when it hit the building. She was charged with drunk driving, reckless driving, and failure to perform driver's duties and causing property damage.

While at the apartment, police also discovered that the two allegedly left their young children alone in another apartment while the adults were at the casino.

One child is six years old and the other is two years old. When police arrived at another apartment, they found the children crying and unsupervised.

Both Moses and Sanders were charged with second-degree child neglect.

Both women are being held at the Lincoln County Jail, according to regional news website YachatsNews.com.

No suspects were injured in the fight or incident.

False shooting report at Rivers Casino

Recently, false reports of a mass shooting at Rivers Casino in Illinois led to the arrest of a man who allegedly fabricated the incident while speaking to a police dispatcher.

Jaime Ramos, 23, of Chicago, was charged with disorderly conduct, Patch reported.

He told authorities Saturday that eight people were involved in the shooting at a Des Plaines casino. Des Plaines and Rosemont police officers responded to the casino after hearing the report.

Police said no such incident occurred and the call temporarily depleted the number of officers assigned to other locations.

It wasn't long before Ramos showed up at the casino. Police said he got into an argument with another man.

Police said he appeared to have called the fake incident from his cellphone.

Sentenced to jail for casino attack

A man who punched and kicked another man at a Minnesota gambling establishment is headed to jail.

Shawn Lussier, 55, of Red Lake, Minn., was sentenced Tuesday to 46 months in prison for domestic violence. U.S. District Court Judge Michael J. Davis also granted him three years of supervised release.

The attack occurred in April 2023 in a hotel room at the Seven Tribes Casino in Minnesota, according to a statement from Minnesota U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.

Lucier pleaded guilty to the charges in November.

The victim suffered a bloody lip, a 1-inch gash on his head, and multiple bruises. During the fight, Lucier allegedly damaged items in the hotel room. The damage was estimated at more than $450, according to police.

Lucier had previous convictions for domestic violence and alcohol abuse, according to authorities.
