Extensive research reveals - Carrying extra pounds raises the chance of developing 32 distinct cancer types.
A recent study reveals that obesity is connected to 13 different types of cancer, such as breast and colon cancer. Additionally, it identifies 19 other cancers that are related to weight gain. This study underlines the significance of maintaining a healthy weight.
Obesity and 32 types of cancer
This extensive study conducted by Lund University in Sweden involved 4.1 million people monitored for approximately 40 years, with a focus on weight and lifestyle. Throughout this period, more than 332,000 cancer cases were identified. The study found that 40% of these cancers had a potential link to obesity.
► In total, obesity boosts the risk of 32 distinct types of cancer!

Maintaining a healthy weight could help prevent cancer
According to the study, 25% of all cancer cases can be attributed to known obesity-related cancers. This proportion grew to 40% when potential obesity-related cancers were considered.
► The scientists suggested that many cancer cases could potentially be prevented by keeping a healthy weight.
Professor Jason Halford, president of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), commented: "This research confirm what many had suspected: that obesity is likely to be a risk factor for many more cancers than we have been able to confirm."
