Viktoria Berlin defeats Erfurt. - Carl Zeiss strives for triumph in Meuselwitz

Although Rot-Weiß Erfurt suffered a 4-1 defeat to Viktoria Berlin at home, Carl Zeiss Jena emerged victorious in a pre-cup final dress rehearsal against ZFC Meuselwitz, winning 3-2.

Meuselwitz coach Georg Martin Leopold deliberately fielded a weaker squad before the final in two weeks, keeping captain René Eckardt and regular keeper Lukas Sedlak on the bench. While this could've worked, it didn't in this game.

Carl Zeiss regulated the game from the outset, with Elias Löder scoring the first goal in the 5th minute from a distance of twelve meters. Löder repeated his feat in the 9th minute, scoring from the edge of the penalty area, making it 2-0.

The rest of the game was uneventful, as far as goalscoring was concerned, with both teams playing cautiously. Meuselwitz attempted to catch up after the halftime break, but Carl Zeiss managed to hold on.

However, Meuselwitz continued to press and eventually scored through substitute Andy Trübenbach, who stole the ball from Justin Smyla and shot it into the far corner, making it 1-2. Carl Zeiss's attack dissipated, and Meuselwitz took advantage with substitute Fischer scoring from eight meters following a left-wing pass. Trübenbach then missed a goal in the final moments, with Maxim Hessel saving the day for the jena team with a last-minute header.

The FCC eventually secured these three points.

Berlin's Inaler scores three times against Erfurt

Meanwhile, RWE continued to struggle, losing to Viktoria Berlin's sixth consecutive win. They started brightly, stopping the visitors from moving forward. But their opponents took the lead with ease through a shot from Berk Inaler from 16 meters (16').

RWE were slightly off pace and didn't pose a real threat to the visitors' goal until just before halftime. Muteba's long-range attempt missed the goal.

After the break, Meuselwitz expanded their lead to 0:2 with a well-placed shot from Shean Mensah from outside the box (53'). Erfurt attempted to respond, but came up short before falling behind by three as Inaler scored from long range (74'). Inaler then added a penalty goal to make it 1:4 (86').

The upcoming matches see Erfurt traveling to Chemnitz while Jena hosts FC Eilenburg.
