Cardi B's Thrown Microphone Garners $90,000 on eBay in Las Vegas Incident

Cardi B's microphone, which she threw into a concert crowd at Drai's Beachclub in Las Vegas on July 29, has become a piece of pop culture history. It's now up for auction on eBay for $90,900 after receiving 76 bids as of Wednesday morning.

Scott Fisher, owner of The Wave, explained how he was able to find the mic following the show. The white tape across the bottom says "main," and it's still functional despite being thrown by Cardi. Proceeds from the sale will go towards the Wounded Warrior Project, which supports injured military veterans, and Friendship Circle Las Vegas, a local organization that helps teens and young adults with special needs.

During her performance, Cardi had asked the crowd to cool her off with water due to the intense Vegas heat. However, she lost her temper when someone threw a cup of liquid and ice at her, resulting in her throwing the mic. Videos of the incident, like the one from TMZ below, have gone viral.

Cardi B is currently under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after a woman filed a report claiming she was struck by the mic. No charges have been announced yet.

This isn't the first time Cardi has hurled a microphone to make a point. On Friday at Drai's, she threw one at her DJ following her 2018 hit "I Like It" performance. According to a commenter on the viral TikTok video, she was upset that her songs were being cut off too early.

Recently, audience members throwing objects at the stage has become a concerning trend. In June, Drake was hit by a vape pen at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, while singer Pink was showered with cremains of a fan's mother in London. Harry Styles was also hit in the face with an unknown object during a performance in Austria and in the UK, and last November, he was struck by a Skittle. Country singer Bebe Rexha received a black eye and stitches after being hit with a mobile phone in New York in June.

Earlier this month, resident singer Adele at Caesars Palace spoke out against the trend, stating, "I dare you to throw something at me. I'll kill you!" And it looks like this trend isn't stopping anytime soon.

This Shure Axient digital microphone is listed on eBay as “used,” and there couldn’t be more truth in that advertising.
