Tragic road mishap occurs in Lower Saxony - Car owner perishes in flames within his electric vehicle.
Over the weekend, a tragic accident occurred involving a Tesla driver who lost his life.
Reports suggest that the incident took place on County Road 22, located within the Lower Saxon district of Harburg, around 9:45 PM. The driver veered onto the wrong side of the road, causing him to collide with the concrete bridge that supports the A7 motorway above. The high-speed collision led to an immediate fire.
Firefighters onsite attempted to save the victim and extinguish the fire, however, their efforts were too late. The driver perished at the scene of the accident.
Investigators are still trying to determine why the driver experienced a loss of control.
The aftermath of the crash resulted in serious complications for the rescuers. The Tesla's electric battery reignited several times, so firefighters had to keep repeatedly cooling it down. This forced them to call for a specialized towing vehicle for transport.
Due to the severity of the scene, crisis intervention teams were needed to help relatives and witnesses process the tragic events. The county road 22 was closed for an extended period to allow for the rescue and clean-up work.
