RWE experiences decline - Captain Startsev is also departing Erfurt.
The club has declared that their captain, Andrej Startsev (29), will also bid farewell to their Thuringian team. Startsev declined the fresh offer from RWE.
Franz Gerber (70), the club's head honcho, expressed, "Andrej has been a significant player for us for the past four years. His captainship wasn't just ceremonial; his commitment and attitude were always spot on. He wants a change this summer, and although we wouldn't mind keeping him, we understand his choice."
Startsev is bound to join Stuttgarter Kickers, a team in the southern regional league.
RWE secures some transfer funds through Hajrulla's move
Marc Stein (38), sporting director at Cottbus, is responsible for constructing a team that'll make a clean slate in the upcoming season after just falling short of promotion to the third division. Startsev and Stein share a past as teammates at Cottbus.
Another player from Erfurt, Romario Hajrulla (25), is also en route to Lusatia. Luckily for RWE, given a clause, the Thuringians will pocket a modest transfer fee...
