California Tribal Casino Bows: Ninja Course and Trampoline Park for Kids
California's tribal casinos, located about 70 miles southeast of Sacramento in Tuolumne, are betting big on keeping their resorts buzzing in 2024 with family-friendly sweepstakes.
Black Oak Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Me-Wuk Indians of the Tuolumne Tribe. Ahead of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, the tribe opened the casino's newest attraction - a 20,000-square-foot family entertainment center called Elevate.
The facility provides recreational activities for all ages. Guests can take ninja warrior classes, jump on an indoor trampoline park, play dodgeball, throw axes, golf on an indoor simulator and perform high-altitude dunks.
Elevate officially opened on December 20. The facility is open from 2 p.m. Wednesday-Friday 11am-9pm on weekends.
"Our goal is to provide a fun entertainment experience that will delight the whole family," Tribal Casino said in a statement. "This is a place where not only visitors but our local community of all ages can come together." Together, experience family fun."
Tuolumne County residents with proof of residency receive a 10% discount on Elevate tickets. For non-residents, this family-friendly attraction offers a variety of passes. Guests ages seven and older receive a 90-minute "jump pass" to the trampoline area, starting at $23. Admission is $18 for those under six years old.
Add reason for visit
Like many casinos across the country, Black Oak may try to increase the value of its destination with non-gambling amenities as casinos continue to expand across the United States and legal gambling venues become more widespread. Black Oak Industries is a major economic engine for the tribe, operating slot machines and table games through a Class III Indian Gaming Compact with the state of California.
The Black Oak opened in 2001 and features slot machines and a small restaurant. Since then, the resort has expanded significantly and now offers nearly 1,200slot machines and 22 table games on a 50,000-square-foot casino floor. Approximately 325 machines are located on the smoke-free second floor of approximately 11,000 square feet.
Elevate isn't the tribe's first non-gaming investment in the resort.
In addition to the 18-hole championship golf course acquired in 2019, Black Oak Casino Resort opened a 53,000-square-foot "family entertainment floor" in January 2005. The facility has a bowling alley with 24 lanes and a playground.
Resort Expansion Plan
The Tuolumne Tribe of Me-Wuk Indians plans to continue expanding its casino resort. While the tribe is tight-lipped on details, tribal leaders say the investment will include upgrades and expansions to the current resort.
In addition to the gaming and entertainment options listed above, Black Oak features a 148-room hotel, five full-service restaurants, and a conference and event center. The associated RV park has 85 spaces with full power, restrooms and showers, a dog park and a catch and release fishing pond.
Black Oak RV Park borders Yosemite National Park and Gold Country, making it a popular stop for recreational motorists.
