Mallorca fire incident occurred two years ago. - Brothers in bowling: each new revelation eases the strain on us
Today, on the two-year anniversary of the mysterious fire, the Münster bowling brothers are voice their opinions. They issued a statement stating, "The cause of the fire is still unknown to this very day."
Charges Against the Thirteen Germans
The Thirteen members of the "Stramm am Tisch" bowling club from Münster, NRW, are being accused of setting fire to the "Why not Mallorca" bar on May 20, 2022, using smoldering cigarette butts discarded from their hotel balcony.
They were detained and allowed to leave prison only on July 15, 2022, after posting €500,000 bail. Investigating Judge Antoni Rotger, known for his tough approach, is still investigating the arson case.
The Münster residents stated, "This has had a massive impact on our lives. Two years is a really long time when directly affected. However, we're trying to remain optimistic about the ongoing investigations. We tell ourselves, the more details are revealed, the easier the burden will become."
They assisted in avoiding traffic chaos
Recently, there were rumors that the Skittles brothers attempted to destroy evidence by deleting a message from the night of the crime. They now address the suspicion of a cover-up: "Following our warning to other hotel guests and triggering the fire alarm in the hotel, we first went to the nearby beach and then returned to the hotel together. Before that, one of us had assisted in rerouting traffic away from the burning hotel."
The case being kept open by court number 8 in Palma is attributed to two injured individuals, €150,000 worth of property damage, and the potential danger to the public.
The authorities believe that the butts were thrown from the balcony of room 1204's corner. However, the Germans never resided in this room. A photograph captures two bowling brothers, a few balconies over, shortly before the fire erupted. Behind them, an unknown person leans against the railing, smoking.
"We've been questioned in Germany and hope that this will provide more clarity," reads the statement by Tobias K., Florian S., Nico S., Lars R., Simon R., Onur K., Mika P., Nico E., Linus H., Julian G., David E., Jan A., and Hendrik K.
Their legal team, led by Maria Barbancho Santorit, Unai Mieza, and Berlin-based defense lawyer Uwe Freyschmidt, has submitted several motions for evidence to the court. The bowling brothers, some of who are firefighters themselves, stated, "We hope for a procedural resolution that favors us."
