A vast chance lies ahead. - Brendel talks about transferring to Dynamo Dresden.

"Dresden is a well-liked and potent team, and I didn't need to mull it over too much," says the ex-striker (1860 Munich, Offenbach, FSV Frankfurt, etc.).

Brendel elaborates, "This is a massive opportunity for me. I'd likely be foolish not to claim it."

Brendel had the same role at FSV Frankfurt for six years, constantly having to make do with a tiny budget. Last season, the team ended in ninth place in the Regionalliga Südwest.

Brendel had negotiated with FSV to dissolve his permanent contract, with his initial start date in Dresden being June 1.

Moving the entire family?

For Brendel, Dynamo Dresden is a dormant behemoth with vastly different chances: "Over 30,000 fans typically attend."

That's why he wants to accomplish the same goals he couldn't reach this season with his new club: "Obviously, the goal is to reclaim a spot in the second division. I'm thrilled to be a part of that."

Things will also shift in his personal life.

Brendel is wed and is the father of two kids, Lili (11) and Marie (16). "We're pondering about my family relocating to Dresden with me."
