Bridget Jones returns. - Breakfast without chocolate
Recently, Renee Zellweger has been seen filming in London, looking radiant and fit in a green dress. It turns out she's been avoiding chocolate for breakfast for quite some time now. Back when she first played Bridget Jones, she gained 15 kilos in no time, which made her life quite challenging. To reach her target quickly, Zellweger had to stick to a daunting 4000-calorie diet daily. She opened up to the "New York Times" about her experience, saying, "I'd start my day with an omelette loaded with cheese and gravy, followed by a fruit salad drizzled with toppings, juice, and coffee with cream, a bagel slathered with butter, and a chocolate snack later." She even added energy powder to her routine. Needless to say, it was a tough period for the actress, especially because she struggled to lose the weight after the shoot, resulting in panic attacks.
Things are different now. Zellweger wears a fat suit on set to portray her beloved character Bridget Jones. The fourth installment will see her character being much more easy-going about her weight, unlike in the past when she'd freak out at the slightest weight gain in her size 40 clothes. It seems her fixation with her weight might not be as prominent in the upcoming movie.
An inside source revealed to the Daily Mail, "Renee is excited to bring Bridget back. She simply adores that character." The excitement is mutual as Hugh Grant (63) is back as Daniel Cleaver, after being absent in the second movie. He was famously killed off in the third installment in 2016, but surprisingly, the papers announced his survival at the end. Grant is eager to collaborate with Zellweger once more. "I've been running into Renée off and on for a decade now. Our chemistry has always been great."
However, fans will have to be patient. The movie's cinematic release date is reportedly set for Valentine's Day 2025, as per the Daily Mail.
