Experimenting with flames - Boy (11) severely harmed in gazebo blast.
In Rostock, on a Wednesday afternoon, a tragic incident occurred when two young boys, aged 11 and 12, suffered severe injuries due to a fire. The eleven-year-old was airlifted by helicopter to a specialized clinic in Lübeck, while the twelve-year-old experienced only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Rostock.
The boys had set a fire in an empty summerhouse in Papendorf during the day. As the flames spread, they struggled unsuccessfully to put it out. One of them tried to use an unknown liquid from a container to extinguish the blaze, but this action caused an explosion that made the fire even worse. Subsequently, one of them called for assistance from emergency services.
The police station in Güstrow shared this information on Thursday. The gazebo was completely burnt down due to the fervent flames, and firefighters promptly intervened to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby area. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
