Retaliation Mission - Billionaires and sheikhs seek out the hidden fortune of Benko.
In the shady business world that Benko used to lead, these influential individuals would have only lost their investment if his Signa-Empire's bankruptcy had been the end of it. However, Benko managed to take more than just their money; he tarnished their honor and reputation. "He made us appear like complete fools," says one of those affected.
Since November 2023, numerous bankruptcies have been occurring among the companies that Benko had once cultivated. A shady Ponzi scheme, billions in debt, construction sites have come to light. Prosecutors are looking into suspicions of fraud, credit fraud, and money laundering in Austria, Liechtenstein, and Germany.
For the creditors, there's nothing left to recoup from Benko. The former billionaire filed for personal bankruptcy, claiming to be helpless and penniless. In actuality, he is still being chauffeured around, lives in a lavish villa, and has bodyguards protecting him.
His former companions believe he may be plotting another trick. As discovered by BamS, there has been a clandestine revenge operation running for months. The leads appear to point to a well-respected law firm in the heart of Vienna, where attorneys, forensic experts, and private investigators have been deployed worldwide. Kühne, Scheich, and Co. are rumored to have already invested a seven-digit sum into the war chest.
A spokeswoman for their law firm says, "We politely request your understanding that we cannot comment on this." The Viennese lawyer remained silent.
The initial findings of the detectives are promising. It appears there is a hidden real estate trove within the Laura Private Foundation (named after Benko's eldest daughter). Dozens of multi-family homes in Eastern Germany can be linked to Benko's foundations. Among them is the renowned "Chocolate House" in Berlin, which was reported by "Handelsblatt."
However, it seems only a fraction of the shadow empire Benko and his trusted aides were supposed to have created and concealed from their investors and shareholders is being unearthed. Investigators have discovered more than a hundred properties in Austria alone that can be traced back to the Benko foundations. Additionally, they have uncovered homes in Bolzano and several villas on Lake Garda.
"Even if some of the houses are encumbered, we expect that it amounts to a fortune totaling several hundred million euros," says an individual familiar with the situation. Lawyers are currently trying to find a way to legally breach the Benko Foundation's stronghold to gain access to the hidden wealth.
Along with the Kühne Alliance, other former partners of Benko are employing expensive private investigators: the former Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani (64), and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman (38). He had entrusted Benko with nearly a billion euros from the Saudi Public Investment Funds (PIF).
Benko now has one of the men on his back who is said to have had a journalist killed in Istanbul in 2018.
