Big Wins: Slot Players Continue Streaking at Harry Reid Airport's Caesars Palace
Lucky individuals keep striking gold at Caesars Palace Las Vegas and at Harry Reid International Airport. In the last month, slot machines in both Las Vegas locations have dispensed some hefty jackpots.
On June 27, a nameless victor scooped up more than $1.3M on the IGT Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds machine situated in Harry Reid's terminal 1 Esplanade. The fortunate winner seemed to be on their way back home when they decided to try their luck on the machine. Harry Reid airport's tweet read, "That's one way to end a vacation — as a MILLIONAIRE!"
The complete winnings amounted to $1,330,133.04.
The announcement of the win started with a Twitter post by Derek Nicoletto, who shared a video of the winning machine after the payout.
No further information was given regarding the payout.
A Billion in Revenue
Over a span of 36 years, the slots at Harry Reid (formerly known as McCarran International Airport) have brought in over $1 billion in revenue, as per Michael Gaughan's Airport Slot Concession. This Las Vegas firm manages the slots at the busy airport.
In recent times, the airport slots have yielded around $39.8 million in gross revenue every year. This translates to around $34.4 million in average revenue for the airport.
Altogether, there are 1,430 slot machines at Harry Reid Airport.
As Patricia Ross, general manager of Michael Gaughan's Airport Slot Concession, stated in a statement from last October, "The slot machines located inside Harry Reid International Airport grant Las Vegas visitors the chance to take a break and try their luck on one of our slot machines while they wait for their flight. Besides that, the revenue accrued helps to reduce the operating costs for airlines at the airport, and these lower rates eventually benefit tourists planning to visit Las Vegas."
Past Wins at the Airport
In March 2022, a traveler from California, named "William J.", won $328,655 on a slot machine at Harry Reid Airport. He also played a Wheel of Fortune machine.
On February 25, 2021, a woman going by "Megan H." from Flower Mound, Texas, won more than $302,000. She also had been wagering on a Wheel of Fortune slot in the B Concourse. In July 2020, "Kaoru H.", a woman from Torrance, CA, played a Wheel of Fortune 4D penny slot, located within the airport's C Concourse. After landing, she played a $5 spin on the slot and pocketed $873,511.
The all-time greatest jackpot thought to have been won at the Las Vegas airport was in 2005, when a player took home $3,961,585.14.
Just Harry Reid and Reno-Tahoe International Airport allow American travelers the opportunity to spin the wheel. None of the other U.S. airports offer this perk.
Caesars Palace Jackpots
Elsewhere in Las Vegas, Caesars Palace has experienced some triumphs this month.
On July 14, an unidentified individual won $200K on a video poker machine. Later that same day, a second anonymous player won $100K on a slot machine at the same Caesars Entertainment gaming venue. On July 15, a third resident at Caesars Palace won $100K while playing video poker.
All three Caesars Palace winners were active members of the Caesars Rewards loyalty scheme.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh Win
In another part of the country, on July 1, Zachary Kuvinka of Monessen, PA, won $30,878 at Live! Casino Pittsburgh.
The progressive jackpot was achieved on a Lock It Link slot machine. No specifics about this spectacle were released.
