A cell phone recording circulated throughout Germany, featuring a group of youths shouting racist chants to the same melody in a bar on the island of Sylt. In this short clip that rapidly gained popularity, the individuals can be witnessed and heard hurling bigoted phrases while a song over two decades outdated plays in the background.
The managers of the impacted beer garden at Bergkirchweih denounced the hateful remarks in a public statement. "We vehemently reject any form of xenophobia, racism, and intolerance," they declared. Going forward, they announced that the track "L'amour toujours" would no longer be performed at their establishment.
