Reporter Phillip Arens from BILD … - Bayer's newest achievement sets a new milestone in history.

This upcoming season is poised to be the most remarkable and triumphant in the club's history.

In just 53 league games, we had more trophies than defeats, which is utterly insane.

We could have even secured three cups. But the 0:3 loss against Bergamo in the Europa League final was our sole disappointment in this glorious journey, as successful coach Xabi Alonso (42) labeled this impressive year following our 1:0 cup victory over Lautern.

► Bayer won an astounding 43 out of 53 games. The Werkself achieved the incredible feat of becoming undefeated champions, a title that has eluded any team in 61 years since the formation of the Bundesliga.

► Bayer is now the sixth German team to win both the league and cup titles.

The most remarkable aspect of this momentous year is that Leverkusen has shed its underdog moniker, transforming from Vizekusen to Meisterkusen. With many late-game goals, Bayer 04 emerged on the international stage as "Laterkusen."

A headline from the "Gazzetta dello Sport" should be noted here: "Bayer claims the crown without 'N' - Xabi Alonso severed Bayern's 11-year reign in the Bundesliga."

The accomplishments of Alonso and his coaching crew, in tandem with the guidance from Fernando Carro (59) and Simon Rolfes (42) and the players themselves, merit the utmost admiration and recognition.

The fact that Alonso inherited Bayer during the 2022/23 season when they were still struggling in 17th place makes this success even more astonishing.

The Double 2023/24 will forever be a symbol of success - and the new standard for Leverkusen's future.

During the party that occurred after the cup final, Carro revealed his ambitious plans for the following season. He expressed his desire to challenge Bayern once again and show in the Champions League that we're at the top tier.

Carro took over as the club's boss in 2018 and had an unwavering goal: Finally, claim the championship!

He often faced ridicule for this ambition. However, the passion for success that Carro, Rolfes, and Alonso sparked throughout the entire club should lay the groundwork for a bright and prosperous new era.
