He yelled out for a knee injury. - Bayern's remarkable player Coman is currently in rehabilitation!
The Bavarian player was back on the training field at Säbener Straße on Tuesday morning, working on his recovery after injuring a muscle bundle in his right adductor five and a half weeks prior during a 2-0 Bundesliga victory over Cologne. For half an hour, he trained with rehabilitation coach Simon Martinello, even managing to do some simple exercises with the ball again. Thankfully, this session did not result in a new injury to his knee, which he had struggled with the day before.
During rehab training on Whit Monday, the Frenchman was doing some intense running. While in the middle of nonchalantly dribbling to loosen up, he inadvertently twisted his left leg. Coman cried out loudly, and the screams echoed across the training ground. He collapsed immediately, cradling his left knee and bending over. His facial expression was filled with agony.
Rehabilitation coach Simon Martinello rushed over to help. After just six minutes, team doctor Dr. Jochen Hahne, also a DFB physician, arrived on the field. He conducted an assessment of the knee to check for any injuries to the inner and outer ligaments and the cruciate ligament.
At first examination, the doctor evaluated the situation as not being too serious. However, later on, it became clear that this accident was a lucky break.
Many feared the worst after hearing Coman's screams because it was his left knee once more. Just over three months prior on January 27, he had sustained an inner ligament tear there during a game against Augsburg. The aftermath included a surgery and a two-month rehabilitation period.
Fortunately, this recent incident turned out to be much less dramatic.
With these cries of agony, initial concerns revolved around his left knee again. It was approximately three months ago that he had torn an inner ligament there in Augsburg (3:2). This consequently led to a surgical procedure and a two-month rehabilitation process.
Now, Coman can focus on returning after his fourth injury this season (prior to the torn ligament and the inner ligament surgery, he had injured a fiber in his right calf and suffered from muscle complications).
Although missing out on the 2018 World Cup final due to a syndesmosis tear, this determined winger is still aiming for a spot on the French national team at the upcoming European Championships in Germany (June 14 to July 14). This is Professor Didier Deschamps' plan. However, Coman must first become match-fit.
