Absent due to hurt - Bayern star experiences departure from European Championship.
Raphael Guerreiro, a key player for Bayern Munich, will not be participating in the upcoming European Championship in Germany. The Portuguese team unveiled their list of players on Tuesday, but the Munich player was notably absent.
The reasons for his exclusion are apparent: two weeks ago, he suffered a ligament and capsule injury in his left ankle during a match against Stuttgart. His recovery is set to take longer than the upcoming tournament's duration, rendering him unable to play.
Recently, Guerreiro attended an end-of-season gathering at a high-end restaurant, Käfer. Despite his injury, he was seen wearing a special boot.
The past season has been challenging for the ex-Dortmund player. His transfer to Munich during the summer was marred by a torn muscle bundle, causing him to miss many summer training sessions. Additionally, he experienced another two muscle injuries during the season.
Furthermore, in his time at Dortmund, Guerreiro had already suffered a whopping 17 muscle injuries!
Looks like we're adding another Bayern player to the list of those missing the European Championships due to injuries. Joining Guerreiro will be Serge Gnabry. The attacking midfielder sustained a muscle injury in his left hamstring in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. Prior to that, Gnabry had impressed with his performances.
However, his possible return to action would only be around the round of 16 (29th June to 2nd July), which is too late for national coach Julian Nagelsmann. Therefore, Gnabry was not considered despite having 45 international appearances and scoring 22 goals. His previous appearance for Germany was in November.
