Goodbye, Bella! - Bayer Leverkusen ridicules Roma

Right after the Bayer team tied 2-2 with Roma, "Bella Ciao" played through the speakers at the Leverkusen stadium following the final whistle. The BayArena was transformed into a party spot as most of the 30,000 attendees grooved to the tune of "Bella Ciao."

A unique show of affection towards their Euro rivals followed. Leverkusen poked fun at Rome!

This led to many discussions on social media, even labeling Bayer rude.

The event reminded stadium management of the Mourinho controversy in the 2023 semi-final second leg. It was reported that Roma purposely made things drag on after only a few minutes. Wounded players rolled back onto the field to interrupt the gameplay. Roma secured their final spot after winning the first leg 1-0. Additionally this year, the Italians constantly provoked players from Bayer.

Leverkusen teases Rome

Rolfes' grinning smile said it all: "A little jab is fine."

Daniele De Rossi, Roma's coach, aged 40, offered a fair congratulating: "They deserve to advance to the final. Sometimes the odds are just in your favor."

Jeremie Frimpong (23) shared his true reaction to that redemption, following their heartbreaking defeat from the year prior: "It feels fantastic to accomplish this, especially beating Roma. We're thrilled!"

The Euro revenge was a win - or to quote Dean Martin's cuddly classic from 1962 in another way: "So long, Roma."

Fun fact: after achieving significant victories this season, "Das geht ab" from the band "Atzen" also blasted in Leverkusen.
