HSV aims for the record. - Baumgart sets a fresh goal

Steffen Baumgart (52) and Christian Fiél (44) had a brief stint as teammates at Berlin during the 2002/3 season, playing together in 13 games for Union.

Their paths have crossed once before, with an unfavorable outcome for Baumgart. HSV lost 1:3 against Paderborn on May 19, 2019, led by Fiél.

HSV's current coach expressed his excitement about reuniting with his former teammate: "I'm looking forward to seeing Christian. Not just because we played together, but because we've always had a good relationship. I think he's a fantastic coach." Baumgart added, "I consider Christian to be a great coach."

Baumgart intends to win against the opposing club, not only to boost morale before the summer break, but also to break the record for the most home wins in their current season, currently standing at eleven. They need one more home win to create a new record. This goal has motivated the team to put in their best effort.

The current season marks a significant milestone for HSV's second division history, as they secured their tenth and eleventh home victories. In the 1979/80 season, HSV set the all-time Bundesliga home record with 15 wins.

The upcoming game represents a chance for redemption and a desire to improve performance, following their 0:1 defeat in Paderborn that ended their promotion hopes. "I believe the players are eager to atone for the previous defeat and demonstrate a considerable increase in performance in order to achieve a positive result against Nuremberg," said Baumgart. "I don't think I'll need to motivate them confidently because they are well aware that this is a crucial game for the team's success."

Their roster is still missing two players. Sebastian Schonlau (29) and Immanuel Pherai (22) are both dealing with injuries, although Schonlau recently began individual training sessions, while Pherai rejoined the team after multiple weeks of recovery. Ignace van der Brempt (22) and Dennis Hadzikadunic (25) are both unavailable due to separate muscular problems.
