Dynamo Dresden return after summer break. - Batista Meier ultimately falters in Zurich.

The Swiss first-division team, which has the attacking player on loan until the end of the year, will not buy him for around 450,000 euros.

Zurich's new coach, Marco Schällibaum (62), has made this very clear: "He just doesn't work for me," he told the Swiss newspaper "Blick." The former Bayern talent's work ethic, especially in Grashoppers' relegation fight, is being criticized.

In reality, Batista Meier's performance record is quite poor: seven (short) appearances, no goals or assists. To put it simply, he couldn't build on his impressive performances at Verl.

Therefore, the rollercoaster ride continues for the ex-Munich player: disappointment in Dresden, resurrection in Verl, another setback in Zurich. It's still unclear how things will fare for Dynamo this summer.

Heiko Scholz (58), the interim coach, is optimistic. "He's shown he's a good footballer," Scholz remarks.

Scholz adds: "His primary challenge has been coming in during the winter. It would be different this time if he's here for the entire summer training and works with the team for four or five weeks."

Optimism for summer preparation

Nonetheless, the precondition for a successful comeback is Batista Meier's willingness to play for Dynamo Dresden.

"He didn't want to come back to us in the winter," explains Scholz. But this was more due to former coach Markus Anfang and mutual feelings rather than his own choice, he says.

Even if his successor from the summer has not yet been chosen: No coach in the third division should really want to do without a motivated Batista Meier in top form.

Batista Meier, who joined Dynamo from Bayern II in January 2022, still has a contract until 2025
